Welcome to Spatialmsk!

👋 Thanks for visiting my site!

This is my attempt at keeping up regular reviews, thoughts, and comments on journal publications that cover topics ranging from data uncertainty, integration, and geographic information science (vague, I know). Other posts may also include events, experiences, outreach - you know, day-to-day stuff.

But why!?

I'm heading into the second year of my PhD, and last year I was fortunate enough to attend a few professional development workshops - namely the 2018 CRA-W Grad Cohort Workshop. There was an ever present buzz that if you do not have an online presence, you don't exist - Pause eye-roll, because I get it and it makes sense. One recommendation was to maintain a website that had reviews or comments on some topic or content, so here I am, attempting to jump on it.

In reality, it's my own fault for trying to wrap everything up into my own FreeNAS server. I learned a lot and harassed a networking guru to guide me through the nebulous realm of centOS, docker containers, jails, and getting everything to seamlessly communicate. I was surprised to learn that putting the hardware together and getting the server running was the easy part! The rest has been an uphill battle. I would have stumbled and broken things many more times in if it weren't for my guru friend and the several online tutorials floating around the interwebs with pictures for people like me. When in doubt, google it.

It's taken me the better part of a few months to get a handle on it all, and I'm still pretty clueless. Here I am, internet! Another one among your billions spreading my textual serenade of all things spatial.
